Product overview

Overview

UGREEN 55455 is a 2-computer, 2-monitor HDMI KVM switch. It routes two HDMI channels and one USB host-data connection from the selected computer to two HDMI monitor outputs and four shared downstream USB ports. Pressing a button moves the complete workstation together.

The design is not a video matrix. Both monitors always show the selected computer, and HDMI channel A input maps to HDMI A output while channel B maps to HDMI B output. It cannot show Computer 1 on one monitor and Computer 2 on the other at the same time.

Each host needs two independent HDMI-compatible outputs plus one USB-A data port. A laptop with only one HDMI output needs a compatible dock or active adapter that provides a second independent video stream, and the laptop itself must support two external displays.

Key features

The major capabilities and boundaries of this exact SKU, without borrowing specifications from similarly named models.

Two-host dual-screen control

Share Monitor A, Monitor B and four USB peripherals between two computers, with one computer active at a time.

High-resolution HDMI path

UGREEN lists 4K@60Hz and 4K@30Hz plus 2560 x 1440 at 120Hz and 1920 x 1080 at 240Hz.

Four-port USB 3.0 hub

Three USB-A and one USB-C downstream port move with the selected host and are rated up to 5Gbps for data.

Two manual controls

Switch with the button on top of the KVM or place the supplied 1.5m wired controller within reach.

Complete host-side kit

Four HDMI host cables, two USB host cables, the controller and required DC adapter are included.

Clear no-matrix behaviour

Both displays and all USB peripherals follow the same selected computer; sources cannot be split across the two monitors.

Six video sockets plus host and peripheral USB

Exact port and connection map

The rear panel carries two HDMI inputs and one USB host-data input for Computer 1, the same three inputs for Computer 2, two HDMI monitor outputs and the 12V DC power input. The front panel carries the wired-controller socket and four downstream USB data ports.

HDMI channels are paired: each computer’s HDMI A feeds Monitor A output and HDMI B feeds Monitor B output. Keep A and B consistent throughout the cable path.

  • Computer 1 inputs: HDMI A, HDMI B and one USB-A host-data connection.
  • Computer 2 inputs: HDMI A, HDMI B and one USB-A host-data connection.
  • Monitor outputs: HDMI A and HDMI B, one cable to each monitor.
  • Shared downstream USB: three USB-A 3.0 plus one USB-C 3.0, data up to 5Gbps.
  • Controller port: connects the supplied 1.5m wired desktop button.
  • DC input: 5.5mm 12V/2A adapter; must be connected for proper operation.
Important: every computer needs two independent HDMI video outputs and one USB-A data connection. The four supplied HDMI cables are used from the two computers to the KVM; add two suitable HDMI cables from the KVM outputs to the monitors.

Video resolution and display layout

Up to 4K@60Hz, with mirror or extend controlled by the active computer.

UGREEN lists 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz and 30Hz, 2560 x 1440 at 120Hz and 1920 x 1080 at 240Hz, plus HDR output. Both host video outputs, the KVM, output cables and monitors must support the chosen mode.

Configure mirror or extended display mode in the selected computer’s graphics settings. The KVM transports the two HDMI channels; it does not arrange desktops, create a second video stream or override the operating system’s display limits.

  • Use two independent HDMI outputs from each computer.
  • Match HDMI A input to HDMI A output and HDMI B input to HDMI B output.
  • For the most demanding modes, use appropriately rated cables and matching monitors.
  • The exact gallery recommends output HDMI cables within 3m and 28AWG.
Practical limit: Both monitors always follow the same selected computer. This product cannot split Computer 1 and Computer 2 across separate displays.

The exact gallery lists up to 4K@60Hz and recommends an output HDMI cable no longer than 3m using 28AWG conductors.

Shared USB 3.0 data

Three USB-A ports and one USB-C port move with the selected host.

Attach a keyboard, mouse, printer, webcam, microphone, flash drive or external storage to the four downstream ports. When the KVM switches hosts, those peripherals reconnect to the newly selected computer through its USB host cable.

All four downstream ports are labelled up to 5Gbps and carry USB data only. The USB-C port is not a laptop host connection, video output or Power Delivery charging port.

  • Three downstream ports use USB-A connectors.
  • One downstream port uses a USB-C connector.
  • The four ports share the active host connection and available bandwidth.
  • Safely eject storage before switching computers or removing the drive.
Practical limit: Some specialist gaming devices, encrypted storage, cameras and proprietary wireless receivers can behave differently after USB re-enumeration; test the exact peripheral workflow.

Mirror or extended layout is configured on the selected computer; both monitors always belong to that same active computer.

Manual switching only

Use the top button or the supplied wired desktop controller.

Press the round button on the KVM when the unit is within reach. If the cable bundle is behind or below the desk, connect the 1.5m controller and place its button near the keyboard.

The exact model does not support keyboard-hotkey switching or automatic source cycling. That deliberate limitation prevents legacy marketing copy from promising control methods the hardware does not provide.

  • Top-panel button: direct manual switch.
  • Wired controller: remote manual switch from the desk.
  • Indicator lights identify the selected Computer 1 or Computer 2.
  • Wake sleeping computers before switching and allow USB peripherals time to reconnect.
Practical limit: No keyboard shortcut, software command or auto-scan mode is supported on exact SKU 55455.

Setup and usability guidance

Plan nine functional links before first use: three from each computer, two to the monitors and one DC power connection. The controller and shared peripherals are added on the front.

  1. Power off or safely pause the computers and monitors while making the initial cable layout.
  2. Connect Computer 1 HDMI A, HDMI B and USB data to the matching Computer 1 inputs.
  3. Connect Computer 2 HDMI A, HDMI B and USB data to the matching Computer 2 inputs.
  4. Connect KVM HDMI A output to Monitor A and HDMI B output to Monitor B with two suitable user-supplied HDMI cables.
  5. Connect the supplied 12V/2A DC adapter; the KVM requires external power for proper operation.
  6. Attach the wired desktop controller and shared USB peripherals, then power on the monitors and computers.
  7. Wake both computers, select the intended host and configure mirror or extend mode in that computer’s display settings.
  8. If video is missing, test one channel at a time and verify A-to-A and B-to-B mapping. If USB is missing, verify that host’s USB cable.
Troubleshooting shortcut: The exact setup artwork specifies two HDMI cables plus one USB-A cable from each host, a connected 12V/2A adapter and awake computers before switching. These are operating requirements, not optional accessories.

Check the signal path, not only the connector

Compatible devices and systems

UGREEN lists Windows, macOS and Linux systems. Hardware compatibility is more important than the operating-system name: each computer needs two independent HDMI-compatible display outputs and one USB-A data port.

Device or platform Compatibility guidance
Desktop PCs with two HDMI outputs Direct fit when both HDMI outputs can run the intended two-display mode and a USB-A data port is available.
Laptops with one HDMI plus USB-C video May work through a compatible active adapter or dock that exposes a second independent HDMI stream; confirm two-display support.
Laptops with only one video stream Cannot create a second external display through the KVM; a compatible multi-display dock or different KVM architecture is required.
Windows systems Listed by UGREEN; display layout and refresh modes depend on the GPU, ports, drivers and monitors.
macOS systems Listed by UGREEN; exact model support, external-display count and any current software requirement should be checked for the Mac.
Linux systems Listed by UGREEN; graphics, USB re-enumeration and peripheral support depend on distribution, kernel and drivers.
Wireless keyboards and mice Usually connect through their USB receiver, but proprietary or specialised receivers should be tested.
USB-C peripherals The front USB-C port supports data peripherals only, not USB-C host video or laptop charging.
Best pre-purchase check: This is an HDMI KVM. DisplayPort-only computers or monitors need active conversion that supports the required resolution, refresh rate and two-display topology; passive cable direction cannot be assumed.
