UGREEN 20109 90° Down-Angle HDMI Adapter, 4K changes the physical direction of a full-size HDMI cable by 90 degrees. It can reduce a sharp cable bend behind a wall-mounted display, console, computer or projector.
It is passive: there is no scaler, repeater, switch, extractor or power input. Video, audio, ARC, Ethernet, 3D, colour and content-protection features pass only when the source, display, HDMI cable and every connector in the chain support them.
The most important buying check is orientation. HDMI sockets rotate with device design; this exact 90-degree/down arrangement can point up, sideways or into the enclosure on a differently mounted port.
Exact-SKU evidence reconciliation
All seven exact live images are useful. The orientation comparison is retained because the same adapter can point the wrong way on a rotated port. The exact India title says HDMI 2.0/4K60 while the UGREEN Turkey page lists 4K/2K without a refresh rate; 4K60 is therefore stated only as a complete-chain conditional ceiling. The orientation artwork is treated as the purchase authority; device photographs are examples, not a universal definition of down.

The exact India record lists up to 4K at 60Hz with a compatible HDMI 2.0-class chain. The UGREEN Turkey record confirms 4K/2K and multiple HDMI pass-through features without giving that refresh rate.
Treat 4K60 as a conditional ceiling: source output, display input, attached HDMI cable, colour depth/chroma, HDCP and content all have to support the selected format.
Every adapter creates an additional plug/socket junction. A marginal long cable that works directly can lose link margin when an elbow, coupler or wall plate is added.
Audio and control features are not decoded by the adapter. They simply pass through compatible conductors when the whole chain negotiates them correctly.

What the entire connection must support
Use one short, certified or otherwise suitable HDMI cable from the adapter to the other endpoint. Avoid stacking angle adapters, gender changers and couplers.
For ARC, the adapter and cable must be in the HDMI port explicitly labelled ARC/eARC on the television and audio device; this product does not create ARC on an ordinary port.
For HDMI Ethernet Channel, both endpoints and the cable must support HEC. The adapter is not a standalone Ethernet interface and has no RJ45 function.
Protected playback still requires HDCP compatibility throughout. The adapter cannot bypass, strip or repair an HDCP handshake.

Standards, negotiation and operating roles
Exact UGREEN sources list pass-through support including 4K/2K, ARC, HEC, 3D, deep colour, multichannel audio, HDCP and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 where the connected chain already supports those formats.
These labels describe transparent transport, not decoding. The adapter does not contain a Dolby decoder, audio processor, scaler, EDID emulator or network controller.
The product is male-to-female and can be used at a compatible HDMI port in either signal direction, but source and sink roles remain determined by the equipment and feature such as ARC.
No driver or firmware is required. Operating-system graphics settings, source format, display input and audio-device configuration determine actual operation.

Setup and usability guidance
- Photograph the equipment port straight on and compare the wide/narrow HDMI edges with the exact 90-degree versus 270-degree gallery diagram.
- Measure rear, side and adjacent-port clearance, including the adapter body, HDMI plug shell and a gentle cable bend.
- Power down or stop playback, align the male plug and press the adapter straight into the equipment without twisting.
- Support the adapter with one hand while inserting the HDMI cable into its female socket. Do not let a heavy cable hang from the elbow.
- Start with the direct cable's known working mode, then test 4K60 or other demanding formats after the mechanical installation is stable.
- If signal problems appear, remove the adapter and test the same cable directly to isolate whether the extra junction reduced margin.

The adapter needs no software. Graphics settings, EDID, HDCP and audio routing are negotiated between the source, display and any active receiver or switch.
A black screen after adding the adapter can be a bandwidth or handshake problem rather than orientation. Reduce the output mode, power-cycle the chain and compare direct connection.
ARC/eARC and CEC behaviour depends on the labelled ports, devices and cables. This passive elbow does not add a missing feature or resolve every interoperability issue.
Software boundary
The passive product has no firmware or driver. Connected hosts, adapters and peripherals can still require exact-model software, permissions or settings.

How do I know whether this angle points the right way?
Compare the wide and narrow edges of your actual HDMI socket with the exact 90-degree versus 270-degree diagram. Port rotation varies, so 'down' is not universal.
Does it support 4K at 60Hz?
The exact India record lists a conditional 4K60 ceiling. Source, display, HDMI cable, colour format, HDCP and every junction must support the selected mode.
Is this an HDMI 2.0 converter?
No. It is a passive contact adapter. The HDMI 2.0-class claim describes supported signal transport, not protocol conversion or active electronics.
Will it add ARC or eARC?
No. It can pass compatible conductors, but ARC/eARC requires the correct labelled ports and support from the connected television, receiver or soundbar and cable.
Can it carry Ethernet?
Only HDMI Ethernet Channel between compatible HDMI devices and cable. It is not an Ethernet adapter and has no RJ45 network function.
Does it improve picture quality?
No active processing occurs. It can solve a mechanical routing problem; picture quality still depends on whether the complete digital link is reliable at the chosen mode.
Can I use it with Mini HDMI or Micro HDMI?
