Four USB-C 3.2 data ports
Modern laptops, tablets and smartphones often have a limited number of USB-C ports. The CM806 uses one compatible USB-C host port and gives you four USB-C connections for supported data peripherals.
| Connection | Quantity | Function |
|---|---|---|
| USB-C male host connector | 1 | Connects the hub to a USB-C, USB4 or Thunderbolt host with USB data support |
| USB-C female ports | 4 | USB data transfer for compatible peripherals; no charging or video output |
No USB-A ports: Every downstream port on this model is USB-C. A separate adapter is required to connect a peripheral that only has a USB-A plug.
Up to 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer speed
Each USB-C data port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer rates of up to 10Gbps when used with a compatible host, peripheral, cable and storage device. This is suitable for moving large project folders, photographs, video files, presentations and backups.
The hub is backward compatible with USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 data devices. When an older device or cable is connected, the connection operates at the fastest mutually supported standard.
Understanding the 10Gbps specification
- 10Gbps is the theoretical maximum interface speed.
- It is not a guaranteed file-copy speed.
- The hub’s available host bandwidth is shared when several ports transfer data simultaneously.
- Actual speed depends on the host port, drive, cable, file type, operating system and workload.
- A USB 2.0 or 5Gbps device will not be upgraded to 10Gbps by the hub.
Connect your everyday USB-C peripherals
Use the four data ports to organise a more productive desktop or mobile setup. Compatible peripheral categories can include:
USB-C SSDs, hard drives and flash drives within the hub’s available power limit.
USB-C card readers, compatible cameras and other data-transfer devices.
USB-C keyboards, mice and compatible receiver adapters.
Compatible USB-C phones and tablets supporting USB host or OTG data operation.
Data only: no charging and no video
USB-C describes a connector shape, not a guaranteed feature set. A USB-C port may carry data, power, video or a combination of these functions. On the CM806, the four downstream ports are designed specifically for USB data transfer.
- USB file transfer
- USB-C storage devices
- USB-C card readers
- USB keyboards and mice
- Compatible USB cameras and printers
- USB-C laptop charging
- USB Power Delivery input
- Charging phones or tablets as a primary function
- DisplayPort Alt Mode
- USB-C monitors, HDMI displays or projectors
Bus-powered operation and power limits
The hub receives its operating power from the connected host device. It does not have a separate power input. The manufacturer specifies a total downstream output limit of approximately 5V/2.4A, with operating current below 2.5A.
If several power-hungry drives or devices are connected simultaneously, the available host power may be insufficient. A port may stop responding or a storage device may disconnect. Use independently powered peripherals where necessary.
Storage safety: Always eject external storage through the operating system before disconnecting it. Avoid unplugging the hub during an active transfer, backup or firmware update.
Improve everyday work efficiency
Keep frequently used USB-C accessories connected instead of repeatedly swapping one peripheral at a time. The four-port layout is useful for photography workflows, portable storage, data backups, document management, content creation and office setups.
Compact and travel-friendly
Measuring approximately 10 × 3.8 × 1.3 cm and weighing around 50 g, the CM806 fits easily into a laptop sleeve, accessory organiser or travel pouch. Its integrated 30 cm braided cable provides useful placement flexibility without requiring a separate host cable.
Reliable construction and protection
The compact black housing, reinforced connector area and braided host cable are designed for regular desk and travel use. An integrated control chip and resettable protection help manage overcurrent, short-circuit and excessive-temperature conditions during normal operation.
Broad host compatibility
The hub works with compatible USB-C, USB4 and Thunderbolt-equipped computers, tablets and smartphones when their port supports USB data or USB host operation. Compatible systems include supported versions of Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iPadOS, iOS and Android.
| Host device | Requirement | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| MacBook, iMac or USB-C Mac | USB-C, USB4 or Thunderbolt port with data support | Hub operates at USB 3.2 speeds, not Thunderbolt speeds |
| Windows PC or Surface | USB-C port supporting USB data | A charging-only USB-C port is insufficient |
| USB-C iPad | iPadOS with external USB accessory support | File format and peripheral-power requirements still apply |
| USB-C iPhone | Compatible iOS version and USB data accessory | The hub does not charge the iPhone while in use |
| Android phone or tablet | USB OTG/host-mode support | Accessory and file-system support varies by device |
| Game console or other USB-C host | USB hub and peripheral support from the host | Compatibility depends on the console, port and connected accessory |
Simple plug-and-play setup
- Check that the host USB-C port supports USB data.
- Connect the hub’s integrated USB-C plug to the host device.
- Allow the operating system a few moments to recognise the hub.
- Connect compatible USB-C data peripherals to the four downstream ports.
- Wait for storage devices to mount before opening or copying files.
- Eject storage safely before disconnecting the device or hub.

Frequently asked questions
Can this hub charge my MacBook or laptop?
No. It has no USB Power Delivery input and does not support pass-through charging.
Can any of its ports connect a monitor?
No. The four USB-C ports do not carry DisplayPort Alt Mode or another video signal. A USB-C monitor, HDMI adapter or projector will not receive video through this hub.
Does every port provide 10Gbps?
Each port can support up to 10Gbps with compatible equipment, but all four ports share the hub’s available host bandwidth. Concurrent transfer speeds will vary.
Can I connect four SSDs simultaneously?
Multiple drives may be detected, but their combined power demand and bandwidth must remain within the host and hub limits. High-power drives may require their own power source.
Does the hub have USB-A ports?
No. The host plug and all four downstream connections are USB-C.
Is it compatible with Thunderbolt or USB4?
It can connect to compatible Thunderbolt and USB4 host ports through USB backward compatibility, but it remains a USB 3.2 Gen 2 hub with a maximum theoretical rate of 10Gbps. It does not become a Thunderbolt hub.
Can I use it with an iPhone or iPad?
It can be used with compatible USB-C iPhone and iPad models for supported data accessories. The connected device must support the peripheral, file system and required power. The hub does not provide pass-through charging.
Will it work with a charging-only USB-C port?
No. The host port must support USB data. A USB-C port that supplies charging only cannot operate the hub.
Can it be used with Chromecast or a 4K TV stick?
This data hub is not designed for Chromecast or 4K TV-stick applications and should not be purchased for that purpose.
Why does my external drive disconnect?
A drive may disconnect if its power requirement exceeds what the host can supply, if several high-power devices are connected, or if the cable or file system is incompatible. Use a self-powered storage device where necessary.
