Key features
02 · At a glance
90° down angle. The India record lists up to 4K at 60Hz with a compatible HDMI 2.0-class chain. The UGREEN Turkey record confirms 4K/2K and multiple HDMI pass-through features without giving that refresh rate.
HDMI male to female. Use one short, certified or otherwise suitable HDMI cable from the adapter to the other endpoint. Avoid stacking angle adapters, gender changers and couplers.
4K60 conditional. UGREEN sources list pass-through support including 4K/2K, ARC, HEC, 3D, deep colour, multichannel audio, HDCP and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 where the connected chain already supports those formats.
No external power. The adapter needs no software. Graphics settings, EDID, HDCP and audio routing are negotiated between the source, display and any active receiver or switch.
Connectors, direction and interface clarity
03 · Physical fit
HDMI male. Connects to the equipment's full-size HDMI female port. Align it without leverage and support the adapter body.
HDMI female. Accepts one conventional full-size HDMI male cable. It is not Mini HDMI or Micro HDMI.
90-degree body. Redirects the cable path immediately at the port, but adds body height and width that may block adjacent connectors.
Passive contact path. Nineteen contacts pass the supported HDMI signals. No active amplification or protocol conversion is present.
Signal, data or power performance
04 · Capability
The India record lists up to 4K at 60Hz with a compatible HDMI 2.0-class chain. The UGREEN Turkey record confirms 4K/2K and multiple HDMI pass-through features without giving that refresh rate.
Treat 4K60 as a conditional ceiling: source output, display input, attached HDMI cable, colour depth/chroma, HDCP and content all have to support the selected format.
Every adapter creates an additional plug/socket junction. A marginal long cable that works directly can lose link margin when an elbow, coupler or wall plate is added.
Audio and control features are not decoded by the adapter. They simply pass through compatible conductors when the whole chain negotiates them correctly.
What the entire connection must support
05 · Complete path
Use one short, certified or otherwise suitable HDMI cable from the adapter to the other endpoint. Avoid stacking angle adapters, gender changers and couplers.
For ARC, the adapter and cable must be in the HDMI port explicitly labelled ARC/eARC on the television and audio device; this product does not create ARC on an ordinary port.
For HDMI Ethernet Channel, both endpoints and the cable must support HEC. The adapter is not a standalone Ethernet interface and has no RJ45 function.
Protected playback still requires HDCP compatibility throughout. The adapter cannot bypass, strip or repair an HDCP handshake.
Standards, negotiation and operating roles
06 · Behaviour
UGREEN sources list pass-through support including 4K/2K, ARC, HEC, 3D, deep colour, multichannel audio, HDCP and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 where the connected chain already supports those formats.
These labels describe transparent transport, not decoding. The adapter does not contain a Dolby decoder, audio processor, scaler, EDID emulator or network controller.
The product is male-to-female and can be used at a compatible HDMI port in either signal direction, but source and sink roles remain determined by the equipment and feature such as ARC.
No driver or firmware is required. Operating-system graphics settings, source format, display input and audio-device configuration determine actual operation.
Ceiling, not a promise
A connector or standard label describes capability. The complete source, destination, cable route, software and negotiated mode determine the real result.
Compatible devices and systems
07 · Device fit
Wall-mounted displays. Useful when the port orientation directs the cable away from the wall and leaves room for the adapter body.
Computers and consoles. Full-size HDMI source ports with enough adjacent clearance and a compatible display path.
Projectors and receivers. HDMI equipment after checking recess depth, neighbouring sockets and the required elbow direction.
Streaming and disc devices. Conditional on full-size HDMI, compatible signal format and enough space for both adapter and cable strain relief.
Use scenarios
08 · Practical value
Reduce a sharp bend. Redirect a flexible HDMI cable before it would otherwise fold tightly against a wall or cabinet.
Reach a recessed port. Change the plug approach where fingers or a straight cable shell cannot fit comfortably.
Protect a fixed installation. Limit repeated side-load on a display port when the cable route is known and supported.
Clean cable routing. Turn the cable toward a raceway or equipment shelf after verifying the 90-degree orientation.
Setup and usability guidance
09 · Usability
Photograph the equipment port straight on and compare the wide/narrow HDMI edges with the 90-degree versus 270-degree gallery diagram.
Measure rear, side and adjacent-port clearance, including the adapter body, HDMI plug shell and a gentle cable bend.
Power down or stop playback, align the male plug and press the adapter straight into the equipment without twisting.
Support the adapter with one hand while inserting the HDMI cable into its female socket. Do not let a heavy cable hang from the elbow.
Start with the direct cable's known working mode, then test 4K60 or other demanding formats after the mechanical installation is stable.
If signal problems appear, remove the adapter and test the same cable directly to isolate whether the extra junction reduced margin.
Operating-system, driver and software guidance
10 · Host behaviour
The adapter needs no software. Graphics settings, EDID, HDCP and audio routing are negotiated between the source, display and any active receiver or switch.
A black screen after adding the adapter can be a bandwidth or handshake problem rather than orientation. Reduce the output mode, power-cycle the chain and compare direct connection.
ARC/eARC and CEC behaviour depends on the labelled ports, devices and cables. This passive elbow does not add a missing feature or resolve every interoperability issue.
Software boundary
The passive product has no firmware or driver. Connected hosts, adapters and peripherals can still require model software, permissions or settings.
What this product does
11 · scope
Changes a full-size HDMI cable route by 90 degrees through one male-to-female elbow.
Can reduce a severe bend or side-load when the orientation and clearance are correct.
Passes compatible HDMI video, audio and control conductors without external power.
Supports a conditional complete-chain ceiling up to 4K60 according to the India record.
Provides a compact removable solution without replacing the installed HDMI cable.
What this product does not do
12 · Clear boundaries
It is not a cable, switch, splitter, repeater, scaler, capture device or signal converter.
It does not turn HDMI into DisplayPort, USB-C, DVI, VGA, Ethernet or audio-only output.
It does not guarantee the elbow will point down on every device; socket rotation controls the physical result.
It does not create ARC/eARC, HEC, CEC, HDR, HDCP or Dolby support where endpoints lack it.
It does not restore signal margin lost to an overly long or poor-quality HDMI route.
What to do
13 · Best practice
Recommended. Compare the port orientation diagram and measure clearance before purchase.
Recommended. Support both adapter and cable so the device socket carries minimal weight.
Recommended. Use one suitable HDMI cable and test demanding modes after the physical route is complete.
Recommended. Troubleshoot by comparing the same source, cable and display with and without the adapter.
What not to do
14 · Common mistakes
Avoid. Do not force the adapter if it points into the enclosure or blocks ventilation or adjacent ports.
Avoid. Do not stack multiple elbows, couplers or gender changers to improvise a route.
Avoid. Do not let a stiff or heavy HDMI cable lever the adapter sideways.
Avoid. Do not assume a 4K label guarantees every refresh rate, HDR format, colour depth or protected stream.
Warnings and limitations
15 · Read before use
Warning / limitation 1. Wrong-angle selection is the main fit risk. A 90-degree and 270-degree adapter can look similar in isolation but route in opposite directions on the same socket.
Warning / limitation 2. The rigid adapter adds leverage to the equipment port. Secure the attached cable and avoid bumping the connection.
Warning / limitation 3. Each extra junction can reduce high-bandwidth signal margin. Use a direct cable when space permits or when troubleshooting 4K60 instability.
Warning / limitation 4. Use indoors and keep contacts dry and clean. Replace the adapter if the shell, PCB, contact lining or plug becomes loose, bent or unusually hot.
Troubleshooting by symptom
16 · Diagnostics
Adapter points the wrong way. Do not force it. Compare the port's wide and narrow edges with the gallery diagram and choose the opposite-angle model if required.
No picture. Test the cable directly, reduce output resolution, reseat every connector, select the correct input and power-cycle the source and display.
4K60 flickers. Use a shorter suitable cable, remove other couplers, reduce colour depth/chroma for diagnosis and verify both endpoints support the format.
ARC or audio missing. Confirm the labelled ARC/eARC ports, cable capability and device audio settings. The elbow cannot create audio-return support.

FAQs
Questions buyers ask.
How do I know whether this angle points the right way?
Compare the wide and narrow edges of your actual HDMI socket with the 90-degree versus 270-degree diagram. Port rotation varies, so 'down' is not universal.
Does it support 4K at 60Hz?
The India record lists a conditional 4K60 ceiling. Source, display, HDMI cable, colour format, HDCP and every junction must support the selected mode.
Is this an HDMI 2.0 converter?
No. It is a passive contact adapter. The HDMI 2.0-class claim describes supported signal transport, not protocol conversion or active electronics.
Will it add ARC or eARC?
No. It can pass compatible conductors, but ARC/eARC requires the correct labelled ports and support from the connected television, receiver or soundbar and cable.
Can it carry Ethernet?
Only HDMI Ethernet Channel between compatible HDMI devices and cable. It is not an Ethernet adapter and has no RJ45 network function.
Does it improve picture quality?
No active processing occurs. It can solve a mechanical routing problem; picture quality still depends on whether the complete digital link is reliable at the chosen mode.
Can I use it with Mini HDMI or Micro HDMI?
No. Both sides are full-size HDMI Type A. Mini and Micro HDMI need correctly specified adapters.
Can I stack two angle adapters?
Avoid stacking. Extra rigid junctions increase leverage and can reduce high-bandwidth signal margin. Use one correctly oriented adapter or a suitable angled cable.
Why does direct HDMI work but the adapter flickers?
The added junction can expose a marginal cable or demanding format. Shorten the path, remove other couplers and test a lower mode.
Does it need power or a driver?
No. It is passive and has no software, firmware or power input.
What is included?
One UGREEN 20109 90-degree full-size HDMI male-to-female adapter. The HDMI cable and connected equipment are not included.
