Compact magnetic phone mounting without bulky clamp arms
The UGREEN LP290 Magnetic Air Vent Car Phone Holder uses five N52 neodymium magnets and an included metal plate to hold a compatible smartphone against its padded magnetic surface. Its compact aluminium body clips onto a suitable car air-vent blade without a dashboard adhesive or windscreen suction cup.

What it does well.
Important: this holder requires a metal plate
This is a universal magnetic mount that works through one of the included metal plates. Attach the selected plate to a compatible phone case or position it inside a sufficiently thin case according to the supplied instructions.
It is not a native MagSafe mount and should not be advertised as MagSafe-certified. Direct attachment without a metal plate may be weak or unreliable, even when the phone contains built-in magnets.
Compact magnetic convenience for compatible air vents
Five N52 magnets. Five neodymium magnets are arranged behind the padded mounting face to attract the included metal plate.
Compact L-shaped body. The slim holder occupies less dashboard space than a large mechanical phone cradle.
Serrated vent prongs. Approximately 19.8 mm serrated prongs and padded contact surfaces help grip a compatible vent blade.
No power required. The magnetic holding system requires no battery, cable, motor, app or electrical connection.
How the magnetic mounting system works
The holder’s magnets attract the metal plate attached to your phone case. The phone can then be placed directly against the padded face without opening or closing mechanical side arms. The strength of the hold depends on correct plate placement, phone weight, case thickness, vent condition and road conditions.
Installing the metal plate
Recommended: Attach an adhesive metal plate to a replaceable compatible case instead of directly to the phone’s finished rear surface.
- Choose a case: use a clean, firm case with a flat back. Avoid fabric, heavily textured, oily or soft surfaces that cannot retain an adhesive plate reliably.
- Clean the surface: remove dust, oil and moisture and allow the case to dry completely.
- Choose the plate: select the rectangular or round plate according to the phone size, case design and required contact area.
- Position centrally: place the plate near the central mounting area, away from the camera module and buttons.
- Attach carefully: follow the supplied plate instructions and press evenly to establish adhesive contact.
- Allow the adhesive to settle: avoid repeatedly removing or repositioning the plate immediately after attachment.
- Test the hold: connect the phone to the mount and gently check stability while the vehicle is parked.
Check your car’s air vent before ordering
The fixed L-shaped holder is shown installed on a straight horizontal vent blade. Vent designs vary considerably, so inspect the blade direction, spacing, depth and strength before purchase.

Portrait and landscape placement
The phone can be rotated against the flat magnetic surface for portrait or landscape viewing. However, this model does not have an articulated ball joint, extendable arm or independent angle-adjustment mechanism. The final screen angle follows the position of the vehicle’s vent blade.
Wireless charging and MagSafe notice
- This holder does not provide wireless or wired charging.
- The included metal plate can obstruct Qi or MagSafe wireless charging.
- A metal plate placed between the phone and charger may cause charging failure, reduced efficiency or additional heat.
- Remove the case containing the metal plate before wireless charging when necessary.

Compact dimensions
The compact holder measures approximately 37 × 64.5 × 39 mm. Its aluminium exterior and small mounting face are designed to occupy minimal space around a compatible air vent.
Important safety and usage guidance
- Install, reposition, attach or remove the phone only while the vehicle is securely parked.
- Do not position the phone where it obstructs the driver’s view, controls, instruments or airbag deployment area.
- Check the vent blade, mount and phone attachment before every journey.
- Do not use the holder on loose, damaged, motorised or fragile vent blades.
- Phone weight, case thickness, plate position, vent condition and road conditions affect holding performance.
- Keep the holder and metal plates away from magnetic-stripe cards and magnetically sensitive objects.
- Keep magnets at least 15 cm away from pacemakers, implanted defibrillators and other potentially affected medical devices; follow the medical-device manufacturer’s guidance.
- A strong magnet may temporarily affect the phone’s compass or compass-dependent direction display.
- Stop using the holder immediately if the vent clip, magnetic face, metal plate or adhesive becomes loose.

Is this a MagSafe car mount?
No. It is a universal magnetic holder that requires one of the included metal plates. It is not MagSafe-certified and does not use a MagSafe alignment ring.
Does the holder charge my phone?
No. It is a passive magnetic holder with no wireless charging coil, USB port, cable, electronics or battery.
Do I have to use the metal plate?
Yes. Use the included rectangular or round plate for a reliable magnetic connection. Direct attachment without the plate may be weak or inconsistent.
Where should the metal plate be installed?
Position it centrally on a compatible phone case or inside a sufficiently thin case according to the supplied instructions. Avoid the camera area and ensure the phone remains balanced.
Will the plate affect wireless charging?

Yes. Rotate the phone against the magnetic surface for portrait or landscape placement. The mount itself does not contain an adjustable ball joint.
Will it fit my car’s air vent?
It is primarily designed for straight, firm horizontal vent blades with sufficient depth. Round, turbine-style, vertical-only, recessed or unusual vent designs may not be compatible.
What is the maximum supported phone weight?
The listed maximum is approximately 300 g, including the phone, case and plate. Actual performance also depends on vent strength, plate position and road conditions.
Will magnets affect GPS navigation?
The mount does not connect electronically to the phone. However, any strong magnet may temporarily affect a phone’s compass or compass-dependent direction display. GPS and compass behaviour can vary by device.
Is it safe around pacemakers or implanted medical devices?
Magnets can affect some implanted medical devices. Keep the holder and plates at least 15 cm away and follow the instructions provided by your physician and medical-device manufacturer.
