Choose the right connection
Port and direction check
HDMI Type-A male to HDMI Type-A male
The two full-size HDMI Type-A plugs form a passive point-to-point link; the cable does not convert HDMI into another connector format.
Source side: A standard HDMI output on the source device. Adapters, receivers, switches and wall plates in the route must also support the chosen signal.
Display side: A standard HDMI input on the television, monitor or projector and a common mode across every component in the route.
Before routing: inspect both physical ports under good light. Similar-looking ports can have different shapes, latches and signal roles, and an adapter cannot be assumed to preserve the requested maximum mode.
Display modes and performance
Resolution, refresh and signal
Maximum mode: 3840 × 2160 at 30Hz.
1080p and other lower common HDMI modes remain available within the source and display capabilities.
A cable rating describes the link it can carry under suitable conditions; it does not guarantee application frame rate, force HDR, upgrade a graphics processor or repair an incompatible handshake. For stable setup, begin with a common 1080p mode and increase resolution or refresh only after the direct connection is working.
Construction and handling
Build and physical care
this model uses a passive cable form with moulded connector housings and no separate power brick.
Hold the connector housing—not the cable—when plugging or unplugging. Keep bend radii broad, avoid twisting at the strain relief and give longer runs physical support. Contact plating can help resist surface corrosion, but it cannot compensate for a bent port, contamination or a loose intermediary adapter.
Console to television. Connect an HDMI-output game console to a nearby television at a mode supported by both devices; the cable ceiling is 4K30.
Laptop to projector. Share a presentation on a projector across a 5m route with either mirror or extended-desktop mode.
Set-top box to HDTV. Carry digital picture and sound from a set-top box or streaming player to an HDMI television.
Blu-ray player to home-theatre display. Use the cable for supported 4K30, 1080p or 3D content without converting the signal.
Desktop PC to monitor. Connect a full-size HDMI output to a full-size HDMI input and select the matching display mode in the operating system.
Scenario rule: every example assumes that the named source output, receiving input and chosen display mode are supported by the actual equipment.
Setup and usability guidance
A reliable first connection
Use this sequence to establish a basic picture before enabling advanced modes.
Disconnecting: power down first when practical. If a DisplayPort plug has a release button, press it fully before pulling the connector straight out.
Confirm the cable is UGREEN SKU 10167 and that the HDMI Type-A male to HDMI Type-A male pair matches the two devices.
Power the source and display normally, then select the intended input on the receiving display.
Connect the source end and display end without forcing, twisting or loading the port.
Begin with a common 1080p output if the system does not immediately establish a picture.
After the direct link is stable, select the intended mode up to 3840 × 2160 at 30Hz.
Choose the desired audio-output device and mirror or extended-desktop arrangement on the source.
Add a receiver, switch, dock, wall plate or adapter only after the direct connection has been verified.
Compatible devices and systems
Compatibility explained
Compatible source types.
Compatible receiving devices.
No software driver is required. The source GPU or player, any intermediary device, the display and their settings determine resolution, refresh, colour, HDR, HDCP and audio behaviour.
Connector shape is only the first check: a port can be physically present while the source, dock, GPU, operating system or intermediary device still limits the available video mode or audio route.
HDMI-equipped desktop and laptop computers
HDMI media players, set-top boxes and Blu-ray players
PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and other consoles with standard HDMI output
AV receivers, matrix switchers or presentation sources that expose a compatible HDMI mode
HDMI televisions and large-format displays
HDMI monitors
HDMI projectors
Compatible AV receivers, soundbars, switches and matrix equipment within the route
What this product does
Supported jobs
Use the cable for the following roles.
These functions remain within one direct display connection. They are not evidence of charging, ordinary USB data, networking, signal splitting or format conversion beyond the connector path specifically described.
Carries one digital HDMI video signal and associated digital audio over the stated cable length.
Supports 3840 × 2160 at 30Hz on a fully compatible direct path.
Provides a passive, externally unpowered link between standard HDMI Type-A ports.
Can pass supported 3D, ARC, CEC and Ethernet Channel signalling when both endpoints implement the feature.
Supports mirror or extended-desktop use as selected by a compatible computer.
Works at a lower common mode when the full chain does not sustain the maximum.
What this product does not do
Important exclusions
Knowing the exclusions prevents the most common wrong-cable purchases.
Choose a different product when needed: USB-C video, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI-to-DisplayPort reverse conversion, VGA, DVI, signal splitting and long-distance active optical transport are separate product categories.
It does not amplify, repeat or actively equalise the signal.
It does not convert USB-C, DisplayPort, DVI or VGA into HDMI.
It does not split one HDMI source across multiple independent displays.
It does not upscale low-resolution content or increase a game frame rate.
It does not guarantee that a receiver, switch, coupler or wall plate will pass the stated maximum.
It does not include an installation conduit, pull sock, signal tester or separate adapter.
What to do
Best-practice checklist
A careful setup protects the ports and makes faults easier to isolate.
Record the working resolution and refresh rate for shared rooms or fixed desks. If another person later changes a receiver, switch, display input or operating-system setting, this baseline makes troubleshooting much faster.
Plan the route and test the full cable at the intended mode before concealing or securing it.
Keep bends broad and support the cable so the connector is not used as a hanging point.
Begin troubleshooting at 1080p, then raise resolution and refresh one step at a time.
Use direct source-to-display testing to isolate a receiver, switch, wall plate or coupler.
Label both ends before routing through furniture, ceiling spaces or equipment racks.
Leave service slack without forming a tight coil or pressing the cable against a sharp edge.
What not to do
Avoid these mistakes
Incorrect connector force and unsupported signal assumptions cause more failures than cable software.
Stop using the cable if a connector is bent, loose, cracked, unusually hot or shows exposed conductors. Continuing to test damaged hardware can harm the port and make an otherwise simple compatibility problem harder to diagnose.
Do not pull the long cable by an HDMI plug or strain-relief boot.
Do not sharply bend, crush, staple or trap the cable under furniture.
Do not assume a long passive route will behave like an active optical or repeater cable.
Do not bury it in a wall or conduit unless local rules and an appropriate cable rating permit that installation.
Do not place it outdoors, in standing water or next to high-heat equipment.
Do not claim a resolution or refresh rate higher than the ceiling.
Warnings and limitations
Read before installation
The following limits apply even when both connectors appear to fit.
Permanent routes need extra care: test the entire cable at the real source, display and target mode before concealment, and follow local installation requirements for wall, ceiling or public-space cabling.
Long passive HDMI runs are more sensitive to source output strength, intermediary devices and connector condition than short direct links.
No in-wall, plenum, LSZH, outdoor or fire-resistance rating is published for this cable.
Any coupler, wall plate, switch or receiver adds another HDMI handshake and signal-loss point.
Optional HDMI functions such as ARC, CEC, 3D and Ethernet Channel require support at both ends.
Test the cable before permanent routing because an installed run can be difficult to replace.
If picture sparkles, blanks or loses sync, reduce the mode and test directly before assuming the display is defective.

What is in the pack
The package is treated as a single-cable product. A source device, display, receiver, switch, wall plate, converter, installation conduit and external power equipment are not listed as included.
Inspect the cable and both connector housings before installation. Retain the model identifier so future replacements can be matched to the same length, connector pair and performance boundary.
FAQs
Questions buyers ask.
Which connectors does UGREEN 10167 use?
It uses HDMI Type-A male to HDMI Type-A male. Check the printed port label and physical connector shape on both devices before purchase; USB-C, Mini DisplayPort, smaller HDMI formats and full-size DisplayPort are not interchangeable unless they are specifically listed.
What is the maximum video mode? Can I use the cable in the opposite direction?
The physical connectors match at both ends, but the logical path still runs from a source output to a receiving display input. The cable does not turn an input into an output or create a signal where the device lacks one.
Does it carry audio as well as video?
Yes, it can carry compatible digital source-to-display audio alongside the video signal. The source must be configured to send audio over the selected display connection, and the receiving display or audio device must support the chosen format.
Can I mirror or extend my computer desktop?
Yes, when the computer GPU and operating system support the requested arrangement. Mirror and extend are host settings; the cable carries the negotiated display stream but does not create extra graphics capability.
Does it need a driver or separate power supply?
No cable-specific driver or separate power supply is listed. Connect the correct source and display ports, choose the receiving input, then use the operating-system display settings if the screen is not detected automatically.
Will it work with a game console?
It can connect a console that has a standard HDMI output to a compatible HDMI display. The console, game, display and any receiver still determine the available resolution, HDR and refresh rate.
Does it support HDR?
HDR metadata can pass when the source, display, chosen resolution, colour format and any intermediary device all support HDR. The cable does not create HDR from standard-dynamic-range content.
Can it provide an internet connection through the display cable?
No ordinary network connection is provided. This product is a display cable and does not replace Wi-Fi, an Ethernet cable or a USB network adapter.
Can I add an adapter, receiver, switch, dock or wall plate?
Possibly, but every added device becomes part of the signal chain and can change the available mode, direction, HDCP handshake or audio route. Test the cable directly first, then add one intermediary device at a time.
What should I try if there is no picture or the screen flickers?
Confirm the correct source and display ports, select the receiving input, reseat both plugs and begin at 1080p. Test a direct source-to-display connection, power-cycle the equipment and then raise the output mode gradually; persistent faults may indicate an incompatible mode, intermediary device or damaged port.
Can I install this cable outdoors or permanently inside a wall?
No outdoor, in-wall, plenum, LSZH or fire-resistance rating is stated here. Use an appropriately certified installation cable when local electrical or building rules require one, and always test the complete route before concealment.
