What it does well.
Key features
02 · At a glance
4K@30Hz verified. UGREEN identifies DisplayPort 1.2 with a 21.6Gbit/s raw four-lane link rate. Protocol overhead reduces payload, and a labelled standard is not a benchmark of application performance.
1440p@60Hz verified. Both devices need full-size DisplayPort. A USB-C port works only through a separately USB-C-to-DisplayPort adapter or cable in the correct direction and with DisplayPort Alt Mode.
Audio + video. DisplayPort 1.2 is the UGREEN family designation. Backward operation with lower DisplayPort modes is normally negotiated by the endpoints, but newer labels do not force an older display to accept a new timing.
Locking tabs. No cable driver is required. Install current graphics drivers from the computer or GPU maker if resolution, refresh-rate or audio choices are missing.
Connectors, direction and interface clarity
03 · Physical fit
Full-size DisplayPort male. Both ends use the standard asymmetric full-size DisplayPort plug, not Mini DisplayPort or USB-C.
Release latch. The raised tab operates the locking hooks. Press it firmly before withdrawing the plug straight from the socket.
Equivalent cable ends. The passive cable itself is not assigned input/output ends, but one connected device must provide DisplayPort output and the other must accept DisplayPort input.
Shielded cable body. Copper conductors, aluminium foil, braid and PVC protection are shown in media for interference control and mechanical protection.
Signal, data or power performance
04 · Capability
UGREEN identifies DisplayPort 1.2 with a 21.6Gbit/s raw four-lane link rate. Protocol overhead reduces payload, and a labelled standard is not a benchmark of application performance.
Model modes are 4K 3840×2160@30Hz, ultrawide 3440×1440@30Hz, 2560×1440@60Hz and 1920×1080@60Hz. Use the table rather than assuming all DP 1.2 cables in a later family share 4K60 claims.
The cable can transport digital audio when the source sends it and the display exposes speakers or an audio output. Audio format, channel count and volume remain endpoint-controlled.
Mirror and extended-desktop modes are supported by the graphics system. The cable carries the selected stream; it does not add a second independent graphics engine.
What the entire connection must support
05 · Complete path
Both devices need full-size DisplayPort. A USB-C port works only through a separately USB-C-to-DisplayPort adapter or cable in the correct direction and with DisplayPort Alt Mode.
The source GPU and display must support the chosen timing. Colour depth, chroma, multiple displays and adapters can consume bandwidth or introduce a lower ceiling.
MST multi-display capability belongs to the DisplayPort source and downstream hub/display topology. A single passive cable cannot split one port into independent screens by itself.
HDCP-protected content requires support across source, display and any active intermediate device. This passive cable neither creates nor bypasses content protection.
Standards, negotiation and operating roles
06 · Behaviour
DisplayPort 1.2 is the UGREEN family designation. Backward operation with lower DisplayPort modes is normally negotiated by the endpoints, but newer labels do not force an older display to accept a new timing.
DisplayPort carries packetised digital video and optional audio. It is not electrically the same as HDMI, DVI, Thunderbolt or USB data, even when an active adapter can bridge selected functions.
The locking mechanism improves retention but increases removal discipline. Never pull the cable before pressing the release tab and confirming the hooks are free.
The passive cable needs no driver. Graphics drivers and operating-system display settings control resolution, refresh rate, colour, HDR availability, audio routing and layout.
Ceiling, not a promise
A connector or standard label describes capability. The complete source, destination, cable route, software and negotiated mode determine the real result.
Compatible devices and systems
07 · Device fit
Graphics cards. Desktop GPUs with a working full-size DisplayPort output and support for the requested timing.
Computers and docks. Systems exposing real full-size DisplayPort output; a USB-C-shaped port is not the same connector.
Monitors and projectors. Displays with full-size DisplayPort input, selected as the active input source.
Conditional chains. MST hubs, KVMs and adapters only within their documented direction, version, mode, audio and HDCP limits.
Use scenarios
08 · Practical value
Desktop monitor. A secure 1m GPU-to-monitor link for a compact workstation.
Presentation display. A direct DisplayPort computer-to-projector or large-screen connection where the display accepts DisplayPort input.
Mirror mode. Show the same desktop on the internal and external displays when the GPU and operating system support it.
Extended workspace. Add desktop space through the graphics system; the cable carries the configured external stream.
Setup and usability guidance
09 · Usability
Confirm both ports are full-size DisplayPort and identify which device is the source output and which is the display input.
Align each keyed plug, push it straight in until the latch seats and leave enough clearance to press the release tab later.
Select DisplayPort on the display, then enable mirror or extended mode in the operating system or GPU control panel.
Start with 1920×1080@60Hz or another known-supported mode. Increase resolution only within the device capabilities.
Select the DisplayPort display as an audio output if sound is required and the display supports audio playback or pass-through.
Before removal, stop the workload, press the latch fully, grip the connector body and pull straight out without twisting.
Operating-system, driver and software guidance
10 · Host behaviour
No cable driver is required. Install current graphics drivers from the computer or GPU maker if resolution, refresh-rate or audio choices are missing.
Windows, macOS and Linux expose different display controls, and hardware support varies by model. The cable is operating-system agnostic; the endpoints determine available settings.
If only one monitor appears in an MST topology, verify the source supports MST and that the hub/display is configured correctly. This direct cable is not an MST splitter.
Software boundary
The passive product has no firmware or driver. Connected hosts, adapters and peripherals can still require model software, permissions or settings.
What this product does
11 · scope
Provides a 1m full-size DisplayPort male-to-male digital link.
Carries compatible digital video and embedded audio.
Supports the UGREEN mode table up to 4K@30Hz or 2560×1440@60Hz when the complete chain agrees.
Uses locking tabs to resist accidental unplugging.
Supports operating-system mirror or extended display modes when the graphics hardware supports them.
What this product does not do
12 · Clear boundaries
It does not convert DisplayPort to HDMI, DVI, VGA, USB-C or Thunderbolt.
It does not guarantee 4K@60Hz, HDR, adaptive sync or a gaming refresh rate not listed for this model.
It does not create an MST hub, extra graphics adapter or independent second video output.
It does not charge a laptop or carry general USB data or Ethernet.
It does not add speakers or audio decoding to a display that lacks them.
What to do
13 · Best practice
Recommended. Match full-size DisplayPort at both ends and confirm source/output versus display/input roles.
Recommended. Press the latch release before every unplugging operation.
Recommended. Use a direct connection at a conservative mode when troubleshooting.
Recommended. Update GPU drivers and verify the display input, audio route and mode table before blaming the cable.
What not to do
14 · Common mistakes
Avoid. Do not insert the plug into Mini DisplayPort, USB-C or HDMI even if the opening appears similar.
Avoid. Do not yank a latched plug or pull by the cable jacket.
Avoid. Do not infer 4K60 from the DP 1.2 label when model UGREEN guidance lists 4K30.
Avoid. Do not chain adapters or splitters without checking every device's direction and bandwidth.
Warnings and limitations
15 · Read before use
Warning / limitation 1. Locking hooks can damage a port if pulled while engaged. Keep access to the release tab in recessed installations.
Warning / limitation 2. 4K and ultrawide operation is complete-chain dependent. A marginal adapter, KVM or dock can lower the mode ceiling.
Warning / limitation 3. Keep the cable dry, avoid tight coils, crushing and sharp bends, and replace it if the latch, shell or jacket is damaged.
Warning / limitation 4. DisplayPort hot-plug is supported by many systems, but stopping video workloads and avoiding repeated rapid reconnects reduces software and connector problems.
Troubleshooting by symptom
16 · Diagnostics
No picture. Select DisplayPort on the monitor, reseat both latched plugs, try 1080p60 and connect directly without a dock, KVM or adapter.
4K option missing. Confirm the display input, GPU output, driver and colour/timing support. This model's 4K mode is 30Hz.
No audio. Choose the DisplayPort display as the audio output and confirm the display has speakers or a usable audio-out function.
Plug will not release. Stop pulling, press the latch tab fully and withdraw the connector body straight. Do not pry the port or use excessive force.

FAQs
Questions buyers ask.
What ports does UGREEN 10244 connect?
Full-size DisplayPort output to full-size DisplayPort input. It is not Mini DisplayPort, USB-C, HDMI or a protocol-conversion cable.
What is the 4K refresh rate?
UGREEN's model mode table lists 3840×2160 at 30Hz. It also lists 2560×1440 at 60Hz and 1920×1080 at 60Hz.
Why do some pages call DisplayPort 1.2 a 4K60 standard?
A standard's theoretical capability is not the same as an product's table. This guide follows the conservative UGREEN 10244 mode list rather than importing a later-family claim.
Does the cable carry sound?
Yes, when the source sends audio over DisplayPort and the display has speakers or an audio-output path. Select that display in the operating-system audio settings.
Can it connect DisplayPort to HDMI or USB-C?
No direct conversion is present. Use a separately adapter or cable for the required direction, and accept that it can impose a lower mode ceiling.
Does it support mirror and extended mode?
Yes as display layouts selected by the graphics hardware and operating system. The cable does not create an extra GPU or split one stream independently.
Can it run multiple monitors through MST?
It can carry a compatible DP stream, but MST requires support from the source and a downstream MST hub or daisy-chain display. This cable alone is not a splitter.
Does it need a driver?
The cable does not. The graphics adapter, dock or monitor can require current drivers or firmware for the requested mode and audio.
How do I unplug the locking connector?
Press and hold the raised release tab, grip the plug body and pull straight. Never pull the cable while the hooks are engaged.
What should I try if the display flickers?
Use a direct connection, reduce the mode, reseat both plugs, update GPU drivers, remove adapters and test another DisplayPort input if available.
What is included?
One UGREEN DP102 10244 1m DisplayPort cable. Adapters, docks, graphics cards, monitors and audio equipment are not included.
