Product introduction

Overview

The upstream Thunderbolt 4 connection carries compatible display, data and charging functions through one host cable. Two downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports support data rates up to 40Gbps and up to 15W device power, while DisplayPort 1.4 adds a dedicated monitor connection.

A 180W DC power adapter supplies the dock. The host can receive up to 90W after negotiation, and the USB-C 3.2 port can provide up to 20W to a compatible device. Actual power and transfer performance depend on the connected equipment and simultaneous activity.

Display results are host-specific. Compatible Windows Thunderbolt systems can support one display up to 8K30 or two up to 4K60. Selected MacBook Pro/Max and Intel Mac models can run two 4K60 displays; base M1, M2 and M3 Macs are limited to one external 4K60 display. Full-featured USB-C hosts without Thunderbolt are limited to one display.

DATA AND NETWORK

Build a fast storage, card and wired-network workflow

Thunderbolt 4 and 10Gbps USB connections support compatible storage, capture and peripheral devices, while SD/TF 4.0 readers serve high-speed memory-card workflows.

The 2.5GbE port negotiates with the router, switch and cabling. All devices share the host connection and dock resources, so simultaneous workloads can reduce individual throughput.

  • Two downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports
  • Three 10Gbps USB data ports
  • Two 5Gbps USB-A data ports
  • 2.5GbE plus SD/TF 4.0

Real-world applications

Use scenarios

Choose this exact model when its verified connections and limits match the workflow below.

Dual-display Windows desk

Connect two compatible 4K60 displays, wired networking, storage and peripherals through one Thunderbolt cable.

Creative storage workflow

Use Thunderbolt storage and SD/TF 4.0 media while keeping a supported laptop charged.

Fast office network

Add 2.5GbE to a compatible laptop for local-network and internet access within the network's limits.

Mac workstation

Run one or two external screens according to the exact Mac processor's native display support.

Practical connection order

Setup and usability guidance

A deliberate connection order makes capability checks and troubleshooting easier.

  1. Place the dock on a ventilated, stable surface.
  2. Connect the included 180W adapter and power cable to the dock.
  3. Connect the included Thunderbolt 4 cable from the upstream port to the host.
  4. Attach one display first and verify its supported mode.
  5. Add a second display only after checking the host's processor and display limit.
  6. Connect Ethernet, cards, storage and peripherals one at a time.
  7. Select the display arrangement and audio device in system settings.
  8. Safely eject storage and cards before disconnecting the host or power.

Host and peripheral fit

Compatible devices and systems

Connector shape alone is not enough: the host port, operating system, cable, display and peripheral must support the required function.

Thunderbolt 4 Windows PCs

Use the complete data, display and charging feature set when the host supports the required protocols.

Thunderbolt 3 and USB4 hosts

Generally compatible within the host's bandwidth, display and charging limits.

Mac computers

Display count depends on the processor: base M1/M2/M3 supports one; selected Pro, Max and Intel models can support two.

Full-featured USB-C hosts

A non-Thunderbolt USB-C host can use supported functions but is limited to one external display.

Verified function scope

What this product does

  • Adds 13 connections through one compatible host cable.
  • Supports one display up to 8K30 or two up to 4K60 on qualifying Windows hosts.
  • Provides two downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports up to 40Gbps and 15W each.

Boundaries that prevent a mismatch

What this product does not do

  • It does not override a host's native external-display limit.
  • It does not give base M1, M2 or M3 Macs two independent external displays.
  • It does not guarantee 8K or dual 4K on every USB-C computer.
  • It does not guarantee 2.5Gbps network throughput on slower infrastructure.
  • It does not deliver the full 180W adapter rating to the laptop.

Recommended practice

What to do

  • Use the supplied Thunderbolt 4 host cable.
  • Keep firmware, operating system and graphics drivers current.
  • Use certified display and network cables.
  • Allow airflow around the powered dock and adapter.
  • Back up important data before sustained storage work.

Avoid common mistakes

What not to do

  • Do not assume every oval USB-C port supports Thunderbolt or video.
  • Do not exceed the host's external-display limit.
  • Do not unplug power during a storage write.
  • Do not cover the dock or adapter during operation.
  • Do not force cards, cables or connectors.

Read before use

Warnings and limitations

Check before connecting or ordering

  • Confirm the exact host supports Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4 or full-featured USB-C.
  • Check the host processor's native external-display limit, especially on Mac.
  • Confirm DisplayPort 1.4 capability for the stated maximum display modes.
  • Use display cables rated for the selected resolution and refresh rate.
  • A 2.5GbE link requires compatible network equipment and suitable cabling.
  • The dock must be connected to its included 180W adapter.
  • Up to 90W host charging is negotiated and may be below the laptop's original charger rating.
  • Plan downstream device power and bandwidth when several storage devices are active.

Warning / limitation 1

The dock requires external power for normal operation.

Warning / limitation 2

Resolution, refresh rate and display count depend on the complete host-to-display chain.

Warning / limitation 3

The enclosure can become warm during charging, high-speed data and multi-display use; disconnect it if heat is abnormal.

Warning / limitation 4

Removing a card or drive during a write can corrupt data.

Warning / limitation 5

Network speed is limited by the slowest router, switch, cable, service or endpoint.
