Product introduction

Overview

The attached USB-C host lead connects to a computer, tablet or phone that supports USB data or OTG. Two USB-C 3.2 and two USB-A 3.2 ports let modern and legacy data peripherals share one compact hub.

The 10Gbps figure is the theoretical USB 3.2 link rate. All four ports share the upstream connection, and actual performance depends on the host controller, drive, cable, workload and simultaneous traffic.

The downstream USB-C ports are data-only. They do not output video, accept a charger or provide USB Power Delivery to connected devices. This model also has no Ethernet, card reader or dedicated power input.

Connections and signal roles

Attached USB-C host lead

Connects to a USB data-capable or OTG-capable host.

Two USB-C 3.2 ports

Carry data up to 10Gbps theoretical; no video or charging.

Two USB-A 3.2 ports

Connect compatible USB-A storage and peripherals at up to 10Gbps theoretical.

One shared upstream path

All four devices share available bandwidth and host power.

MIXED-CONNECTOR DATA

Use USB-C and USB-A peripherals side by side

Two ports of each connector type make the hub practical for a mixed collection of portable SSDs, card readers, flash drives and everyday accessories.

USB connector shape does not determine device speed. The connected hardware and cable must also support the required USB data rate.

  • 2 × USB-C data
  • 2 × USB-A data
  • Up to 10Gbps theoretical
  • Shared upstream bandwidth
Two USB-C and two USB-A data ports at up to 10Gbps: Use USB-C and USB-A peripherals side by side
Two USB-C and two USB-A data ports at up to 10Gbps: Use USB-C and USB-A peripherals side by side
Two USB-C and two USB-A data ports at up to 10Gbps: Travel with data expansion, not a docking station

COMPACT DATA HUB

Travel with data expansion, not a docking station

The 4 × 1.5 × 0.5in, 50g enclosure is intended as a portable way to add data ports to laptops, tablets and supported phones.

It deliberately omits display, network and charging functions. Choose a full multiport dock when HDMI, Ethernet or Power Delivery is required.

  • Compact 4 × 1.5 × 0.5in body
  • 50g listed weight
  • No external display support
  • No PD input or host charging

Real-world applications

Use scenarios

Choose this exact model when its verified connections and limits match the workflow below.

Portable SSD transfer

Connect a compatible high-speed USB-C or USB-A drive for file work.

Mixed-accessory desk

Keep modern USB-C and legacy USB-A peripherals connected together.

Tablet data hub

Attach supported storage and accessories to an OTG-capable USB-C tablet.

Travel kit

Carry four data ports in a small aluminium hub without dock features you do not need.

Practical connection order

Setup and usability guidance

A deliberate connection order makes capability checks and troubleshooting easier.

  1. Connect the attached USB-C lead to a data-capable host.
  2. Connect one USB device and confirm detection.
  3. Use a 10Gbps-rated cable for a removable USB-C peripheral.
  4. Add the remaining devices one at a time.
  5. Wait for storage volumes to mount before starting a transfer.
  6. Safely eject all drives before unplugging them.
  7. Disconnect and inspect a damaged or unusually hot connector.

Host and peripheral fit

Compatible devices and systems

Connector shape alone is not enough: the host port, operating system, cable, display and peripheral must support the required function.

USB-C computers

Windows, macOS and Linux hosts can use supported USB data functions.

USB4 and Thunderbolt hosts

Backward-compatible USB data works within the hub's 10Gbps limit.

iPad, iPhone and Android

Requires a USB-C model with USB host/OTG and compatible accessory or file-system support.

USB data peripherals

Designed for storage and accessories, not USB-C monitors or PD charging devices.

Verified function scope

What this product does

  • Adds two USB-C and two USB-A data ports.
  • Supports theoretical USB 3.2 data rates up to 10Gbps.
  • Works with compatible computers, tablets and phones that provide USB host data.
  • Provides a compact mixed-connector data expansion point.

Boundaries that prevent a mismatch

What this product does not do

  • It does not output video through the downstream USB-C ports.
  • It does not charge a laptop, tablet or phone.
  • It does not accept USB-C Power Delivery input.
  • It does not include Ethernet or memory-card readers.
  • It does not give every port a separate 10Gbps channel.

Recommended practice

What to do

  • Use rated cables and high-speed peripherals for 10Gbps workflows.
  • Keep the hub uncovered during sustained transfers.
  • Back up important files.
  • Test devices separately when troubleshooting.
  • Use the host's safe-eject function before disconnection.

Avoid common mistakes

What not to do

  • Do not connect a monitor expecting video.
  • Do not connect a charger to a downstream data port.
  • Do not unplug storage during a write.
  • Do not force connectors or pull the hub by its cable.
  • Do not exceed the host's available bus power.

Read before use

Warnings and limitations

Check before connecting or ordering

  • Confirm the host USB-C port supports data or OTG.
  • Confirm the downstream USB-C device needs data rather than video or charging.
  • Use 10Gbps-capable cables for high-speed USB-C peripherals.
  • Expect all four ports to share bandwidth and host power.
  • Check the power needs of portable drives.
  • Do not choose this model for HDMI, Ethernet or card reading.
  • Verify mobile operating-system support for the device and file system.

Warning / limitation 1

Removing a drive during a write can corrupt data.

Warning / limitation 2

10Gbps is theoretical and shared; real speed is lower and workload-dependent.

Warning / limitation 3

High-speed devices can make the enclosure warm; disconnect it if heat is abnormal.

Warning / limitation 4

Some phones and tablets limit external storage formats or accessory types.

Warning / limitation 5

A bus-powered device can disconnect if the host cannot supply enough power.

Model-specific answers

Product-specific FAQ

Which four ports are included?

The hub provides two downstream USB-C data ports and two downstream USB-A data ports.

Do the USB-C ports support a monitor?

No. The downstream USB-C sockets are data-only and do not output video.

Can it charge a laptop or phone?

No. It has no Power Delivery input and the downstream ports do not provide a charging function.

Can every port reach 10Gbps together?

No. 10Gbps is the theoretical shared upstream rate.

Will it work on Thunderbolt or USB4?

Yes for backward-compatible USB data, within the hub's own 10Gbps ceiling.

Can I use it with a phone or tablet?

Yes when the device supports USB host/OTG mode and the attached peripheral or file system.

Does it include Ethernet?

No. This model is a four-port USB data hub only.

Does it read SD cards?

No. Connect a separate compatible USB card reader if required.

Why is my SSD slower than 10Gbps?

Real speed depends on the SSD, enclosure, cable, host, workload and traffic from other shared ports.

Does it need a driver?

Basic hub operation is plug and play on supported systems; connected peripherals may require their own drivers.

How large is the hub?

The verified dimensions are approximately 4 × 1.5 × 0.5 inches, with a listed weight of 50g.
