Before Choosing a Cat 8 Cable
- Confirm that both devices have standard RJ45 Ethernet ports. Slim laptops without RJ45 require a compatible Ethernet adapter or dock.
- A Cat 8 cable cannot increase the maximum speed of a slower router, switch, network card or internet plan.
- To approach 40Gbps, every relevant component in the network link must support the required speed.
- This cable is intended for indoor wired networking. It is not described as weatherproof, direct-burial or outdoor-rated.
- Avoid tightly crushing, stapling or sharply bending the cable, as improper installation can affect performance and durability.

Will this cable give me 40Gbps internet speed?
Not automatically. Forty gigabits per second is the cable’s maximum rated link capability. Your actual speed is limited by your internet plan, router, switch, network card, connected device and the other components in the network.
Can I use it with a 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps router?
Yes. It is backward compatible with standard RJ45 Ethernet networks. A 1Gbps router will operate at up to its supported 1Gbps link speed rather than at 40Gbps.
Is it suitable for PS5, Xbox and gaming PCs?
Yes, when the device has a standard RJ45 Ethernet port. A wired connection can provide more consistent connectivity than congested Wi-Fi, but it cannot remove latency caused by the internet provider, router, game server or network congestion.
Does it support Power over Ethernet?
Yes, the 3m version supports use with compatible PoE equipment. A compatible PoE switch or injector is still required to provide power to a compatible PoE device.
What is the benefit of shielding?
Shielding helps reduce electromagnetic interference and crosstalk, which can improve signal integrity in electrically busy environments or where several cables run close together.
Can I connect it to a laptop without an Ethernet port?

Is this an outdoor Ethernet cable?
