01 · Product introduction

Overview

UGREEN 55517 Magnetic USB-C Cable, 100W, 1m is a 1m braided USB-C to USB-C cable designed to organise itself into a compact coil. Neodymium magnetic material is distributed through the cable body; the USB-C plugs are ordinary wired connectors, not detachable magnetic tips.

UGREEN lists USB Power Delivery 3.0 charging up to 100W, an integrated E-marker and data up to 480Mbps. The charger, receiving device, port and power profile negotiate the actual charging rate, which can be far below 100W.

This is a USB 2.0 data cable intended primarily for charging and everyday sync. No DisplayPort Alt Mode, HDMI video, USB 3.x, USB4 or Thunderbolt transport is verified.

Exact-SKU evidence reconciliation

Eight of ten exact live images are used for hero identity, magnetic organisation, 100W charging, reinforced braid, E-marker, compatibility categories, 480Mbps data and one-second packing. The magnetic feature organises the cable body; it is not a breakaway magnetic connector. Exact live media and the primary India record agree on 1m, 100W, PD3.0, E-marker, 480Mbps, nylon braid and conventional USB-C plugs.

02 · At a glance

Key features

01

100W PD maximum

Maximum listed charging is 100W through compatible USB Power Delivery equipment. A typical 100W profile can require 20V/5A, but the actual voltage and current are negotiated and controlled by the charger and device.

02

5A E-marker

For the 100W ceiling, use a compatible USB-C PD charger with a 5A-capable port and a receiving laptop or device that supports the corresponding PD profile.

03

480Mbps data

UGREEN identifies PD3.0 and a 100W maximum. The cable does not add PPS, proprietary fast charge or a voltage profile absent from the charger and receiving device.

04

Magnetic cable body

No cable driver is required. USB file transfer can need phone permissions, MTP software or a device-specific application; charging negotiation is handled by USB-C hardware.

03 · Physical fit

Connectors, direction and interface clarity

01

USB-C male at both ends

Reversible conventional plugs for a USB-C power source and USB-C receiving device. There is no magnetic breakaway tip.

02

E-marker

An electronically marked cable identity supports safe negotiation for current above the unmarked-cable limit when the charger and device request it.

03

Magnetic cable body

Distributed magnetic material encourages the braid to self-coil for storage. It does not create wireless charging or connector retention.

04

Braided strain relief

A reinforced multi-strand outer construction, nickel-plated connector surfaces and extended strain relief are shown in exact artwork.

04 · Capability

Signal, data or power performance

Maximum listed charging is 100W through compatible USB Power Delivery equipment. A typical 100W profile can require 20V/5A, but the actual voltage and current are negotiated and controlled by the charger and device.

A 100W cable does not make a lower-power charger faster. Phones, tablets, handheld consoles and laptops draw only a profile they support, subject to temperature, battery state and manufacturer limits.

Data transfer is USB 2.0 up to 480Mbps. Real throughput is lower, and the cable is not intended for high-speed external SSD, USB4 dock, Thunderbolt display or 4K video workflows.

An E-marker reports cable capability; it does not regulate a faulty supply, cool the cable or guarantee zero heat. Slight warmth can be normal at high power, but abnormal heat requires immediate disconnection.

UGREEN 55517 Up to 100W USB-C Power Delivery charging
Up to 100W USB-C Power Delivery charging. A compatible high-power charger and receiving device negotiate the actual rate; lower-power devices draw only what they support.

05 · Complete path

What the entire connection must support

For the 100W ceiling, use a compatible USB-C PD charger with a 5A-capable port and a receiving laptop or device that supports the corresponding PD profile.

Some multi-port chargers reduce per-port output when another port is used. Read the charger's distribution table rather than relying on its total wattage.

A USB-C port can be charging-only, USB 2.0, USB 3.x, DisplayPort or Thunderbolt. This cable provides only the charging and USB 2.0 data functions verified for SKU 55517.

USB-C phones and tablets can exchange data when one endpoint acts as host and software permissions allow it. Two charge-only ports or locked devices will not create a data session.

UGREEN 55517 Up to 480Mbps USB 2.0 data
Up to 480Mbps USB 2.0 data. This is a charging-focused USB 2.0 cable. It is not a high-speed USB 3.x, USB4, Thunderbolt or display cable.

06 · Behaviour

Standards, negotiation and operating roles

UGREEN identifies PD3.0 and a 100W maximum. The cable does not add PPS, proprietary fast charge or a voltage profile absent from the charger and receiving device.

Electronically marked 5A cables are required for high-current USB-C PD operation. Negotiation occurs before high power is delivered; connector cleanliness and secure insertion remain essential.

USB 2.0 data up to 480Mbps is separate from charging wattage. A high power rating does not imply SuperSpeed lanes, USB4 tunnelling or display capability.

Magnetic self-organisation is mechanical cable management. It is not MagSafe/Qi charging, magnetic data transmission or a quick-release safety connector.

Ceiling, not a promise

A connector or standard label describes capability. The complete source, destination, cable route, software and negotiated mode determine the real result.

07 · Device fit

Compatible devices and systems

01

USB-C laptops

Models accepting USB-C PD up to or below 100W; actual rate depends on charger, port and the laptop's supported profile.

02

Phones and tablets

USB-C devices that negotiate their own lower supported charging rate; USB 2.0 data is conditional on host role and permissions.

03

Handheld consoles and accessories

Only within the manufacturer's USB-C power guidance; use the approved charger profile for devices with strict power behaviour.

04

Power banks and chargers

USB-C PD sources or sinks that follow compatible profiles; check whether each port is input, output or bidirectional.

UGREEN 55517 USB-C device compatibility categories
USB-C device compatibility categories. Examples include laptops, tablets, phones, handheld consoles and drones; connector fit alone does not guarantee a specific charging protocol.

08 · Practical value

Use scenarios

01

Tidy desk charging

Let unused slack self-coil beside a laptop or tablet while keeping ventilation and connector strain under control.

02

Travel packing

Coil the 1m cable into a compact bundle without a separate tie, then keep it away from magnetic-stripe cards.

03

Laptop power

Pair a compatible 100W USB-C PD charger with a laptop that accepts the required profile.

04

Everyday sync

Transfer ordinary files at USB 2.0 speeds while charging a compatible phone, tablet or accessory.

09 · Usability

Setup and usability guidance

  1. Inspect and clean both USB-C ports and confirm the charger output and receiving-device input support the intended PD wattage.
  2. Connect the charger to mains, insert one USB-C plug fully into its intended output and connect the other to the device without adapters.
  3. Check the device's charging indicator and operating-system power report; do not infer 100W from the cable marking alone.
  4. For data, unlock the device, choose file-transfer or accessory permissions and connect to a USB host port rather than a charge-only port.
  5. Allow unused length to self-organise, but uncoil the cable if the bundle becomes warm, needs ventilation or creates strain at either plug.
  6. After use, disconnect by gripping the plug shells, let the cable form a relaxed coil and store it away from sharp objects and magnetic media.
UGREEN 55517 One-second self-coiling travel storage
One-second self-coiling travel storage. Let the cable settle into its magnetic coil for packing, and uncoil it when heat dissipation or extra reach is needed.

10 · Host behaviour

Operating-system, driver and software guidance

No cable driver is required. USB file transfer can need phone permissions, MTP software or a device-specific application; charging negotiation is handled by USB-C hardware.

Laptop charging status can report slow charger when the source wattage or profile is below the system requirement. The cable cannot raise a charger port's output.

No video function is verified. If a monitor remains blank through this cable, that is expected rather than a driver problem; use a cable explicitly supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode or the required video standard.

Software boundary

The passive product has no firmware or driver. Connected hosts, adapters and peripherals can still require exact-model software, permissions or settings.

18 · Native collapsible answers

Product-specific FAQ

Are the USB-C connector tips magnetic?

No. The plugs are conventional wired USB-C connectors. Magnetic material in the cable body helps it coil for storage; it is not a breakaway tip.

Will it always charge at 100W?

No. 100W is the cable ceiling. Charger port, PD profile, receiving device, power sharing, temperature and battery state set the actual wattage.

What does the E-marker do?

It electronically identifies cable capability during USB-C negotiation, including support for high current. It does not regulate a faulty charger or guarantee zero heat.

Does it support 480Mbps data?

Yes, up to the USB 2.0 interface ceiling when the devices establish a data session. Real throughput is lower and this is not a SuperSpeed cable.

Can I use it for a monitor or USB-C dock?

Not for functions requiring DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB 3.x, USB4 or Thunderbolt. Use a cable explicitly rated for the dock or display's video and data requirements.

Can it charge phones and tablets safely?

Compatible devices negotiate a supported lower profile. Use a sound USB-C PD charger and follow the device maker's charging guidance.

Can I use it with a Nintendo Switch or handheld console?

Only within the console maker's approved USB-C charging rules and charger profiles. Connector fit alone is not a power-compatibility guarantee.

Should I leave it coiled while charging?

A relaxed coil is convenient at low load, but uncoil it for sustained high-power charging if the bundle limits airflow or becomes warm.

Will the magnets harm devices?

Keep the cable away from magnetic-stripe cards and precision magnetic sensors, and follow any medical-device or equipment-maker magnet-separation guidance.

What should I do if charging stops or reconnects?

Clean and inspect both ports, connect directly, try a known-good PD charger and device, remove shared loads and stop using the cable if movement affects the link.

What is included?

One UGREEN 55517 1m magnetic self-organising USB-C to USB-C cable. A wall charger, power bank, laptop, phone and adapters are not included.
