Product introduction
Overview
UGREEN model 10354 is a 0.5m / 50cm cable with a standard USB Type-A male plug at one end and a Mini-USB Type-B 5-pin male plug at the other. Key features
Quick reference
Confirm the small connector before ordering
Connections and roles
USB-A end. Connect to a computer, powered USB hub, USB-A charger, car USB outlet or power bank that provides a standard USB-A receptacle.
Mini-USB device end. Connect only to a device with the older Mini-USB Type-B 5-pin socket shown in the product image.
Data path. Use with a computer or another USB host when the connected Mini-USB device exposes a supported data function.
Power path. Use a suitable USB-A power source when the connected Mini-USB device permits USB charging or power input.
Mini-USB is a distinct, older USB connector
Connector identification
Mini-USB Type-B has a larger, trapezoid-like shell compared with Micro-USB. It is also different from the reversible oval USB-C connector and from the square USB Type-B connector used by many printers. A product category or device brand is not enough to confirm fit—compare the physical port and manual.
The USB-A plug is the familiar rectangular host-side connector. It is not reversible, so align both plugs with their sockets and insert them gently without twisting.
Look for “Mini-USB”, “Mini-B” or “5-pin Mini USB” in the device manual.
Compare the port opening with the close-up listing image before purchase.
Do not assume that every older camera, controller or GPS uses the same connector.
Short reach without a large coil of spare cable
Length-specific usability
At 50cm, this variant suits equipment that is close but not directly adjacent. Measure around stands, dashboards and shelves and leave a small service loop so the Mini-USB socket is not used as a cable anchor.
Cable length affects placement and handling, not the USB protocol. Keep the lead relaxed, protect both strain-relief points and avoid leaving unused cable where it can be pulled, trapped or tightly coiled.
Useful between a laptop and nearby camera, controller or GPS unit.
Provides some routing slack while remaining compact.
Keep the cable clear of moving seat rails, hinges and drawer edges.
Use scenarios
Real-world applications
Useful situations for the 0.5m / 50cm version
Nearby computer peripheral. Connect an older camera, GPS receiver, controller or media device placed beside a computer.
Short vehicle power route. Connect a compatible Mini-USB dash camera or GPS unit to a nearby USB-A power source after planning a safe route.
Camera or media transfer. Move photos, recordings or device data when the equipment supports USB data over its Mini-USB port and the correct driver or storage mode is selected.
Legacy accessory power. Provide ordinary USB power to a compatible Mini-USB accessory from a suitable USB-A source, within the device manufacturer’s requirements.
Compatible devices and systems
Device and system fit
Compatibility is determined by port shape and device function.
Common Mini-USB equipment. Selected older digital cameras, GPS receivers, dash cameras, MP3/MP4 players, external-drive enclosures and controllers with a Mini-B 5-pin port.
Computer hosts. Windows, macOS, Linux or other systems with USB-A can use the cable; the connected device may still need its own driver or transfer mode.
Charging sources. USB-A wall chargers, vehicle outlets, hubs and power banks can supply power when the Mini-USB device supports charging from that source.
Not connector-compatible. Micro-USB, USB-C, Mini HDMI, Micro HDMI, Lightning and square printer USB-B ports require different cables.
Check before buying
Important limitations
Check these points before ordering or connecting:
Confirm the device socket is Mini-USB Type-B 5-pin, not the smaller Micro-USB connector.
Measure the route and confirm that 0.5m / 50cm is the right length without stretching or leaving an unsafe loop.
Check whether the device uses the Mini-USB port for data, charging, power only or a manufacturer-specific function.
If data transfer is required, confirm the device supports a normal USB data mode and obtain its official driver or application if needed.
If charging is required, confirm the permitted input in the device manual; the power source and device determine current and charging speed.
A USB-C-only computer needs a suitable data-capable USB-C-to-USB-A adapter or a different direct cable.
A physically similar proprietary port is not automatically compatible even if a Mini-USB plug appears to fit.
What this product does
Function scope
Use this model for the functions listed below.
Creates a wired connection from one USB-A receptacle to one Mini-USB Type-B 5-pin device port.
Carries USB 2.0 data up to the mutually supported rate, with a 480Mbps signalling ceiling.
Carries ordinary USB power for devices designed to charge or operate through Mini-USB.
Supports older USB 1.1 and USB 1.0 devices at their lower negotiated speeds.
What this product does not do
Function boundaries
These boundaries prevent a connector or headline specification from being mistaken for a different function.
It does not fit Micro-USB, USB-C, Lightning, Mini HDMI or square USB-B ports.
It does not convert a charge-only device port into a data connection.
It does not install the camera, GPS or controller driver required by the operating system.
It does not guarantee “fast charging”; charging is limited by the source, cable path and device input.
It is not an OTG host adapter and does not by itself let two peripheral devices communicate.
Setup and usability guidance
Setup guidance
Identify the USB-A host or charger and the Mini-USB Type-B 5-pin socket on the device.
Power the device down or place it in standby if its manual recommends that before cable changes.
Align the Mini-USB plug with the socket and insert it straight; do not rock, twist or force it.
Connect USB-A to the computer or suitable power source.
For data, unlock or power on the device and select its required transfer, mass-storage or camera mode.
Install only the device maker’s official driver or application if the operating system requests one.
Before unplugging storage or a camera during data transfer, eject it safely or wait until all write activity has stopped.
Do and avoid
Good practice
Match the exact Mini-USB port before purchase.
Keep both connectors supported and the cable free from tension.
Use the device maker’s approved transfer mode and drivers.
Eject storage safely before disconnecting a data session.
Store the cable in a loose loop and keep the contacts dry and clean.
Do not force the Mini-USB plug into Micro-USB or another similar-looking socket.
Do not pull by the cable or lever the plug sideways in an older device port.
Do not promise or expect a modern USB-PD or Quick Charge mode.
Do not disconnect while files are being written or firmware is being updated.
Do not use a damaged cable, loose connector or contaminated USB port.
Warnings and limitations
Safe operation and troubleshooting
Use it safely and troubleshoot methodically.
Safety / limitation 1. Mini-USB and Micro-USB are not interchangeable. Forcing the wrong connector can damage an older, difficult-to-repair device socket.
Safety / limitation 2. The stated 0.5m / 50cm length should reach without tension; leave a small service loop and keep it away from moving hinges, rails and controls.
Safety / limitation 3. The 480Mbps figure is a USB 2.0 signalling maximum. Device electronics and storage usually produce a lower observed transfer rate.
Safety / limitation 4. Charging behaviour is set by the USB-A source and Mini-USB device. Stop use if a plug, cable or device becomes unusually hot or intermittent.
Safety / limitation 5. A cable can be electrically compatible while the device still needs a driver, operating mode or manufacturer application for data access.
