Compact magnetic phone mounting without bulky clamp arms
The UGREEN LP290 Magnetic Air Vent Car Phone Holder uses five N52 neodymium magnets and an included metal plate to hold a compatible smartphone against its padded magnetic surface. Its compact aluminium body clips onto a suitable car air-vent blade without a dashboard adhesive or windscreen suction cup.
Important: this holder requires a metal plate
This is a universal magnetic mount that works through one of the included metal plates. Attach the selected plate to a compatible phone case or position it inside a sufficiently thin case according to the supplied instructions.
It is not a native MagSafe mount and should not be advertised as MagSafe-certified. Direct attachment without a metal plate may be weak or unreliable, even when the phone contains built-in magnets.

How the magnetic mounting system works
The holder’s magnets attract the metal plate attached to your phone case. The phone can then be placed directly against the padded face without opening or closing mechanical side arms. The strength of the hold depends on correct plate placement, phone weight, case thickness, vent condition and road conditions.
Rectangular plate
Provides a larger metal surface and may be preferable for a larger or heavier compatible phone. Position it centrally behind the phone for balanced contact.
Round plate
Offers a smaller mounting footprint for a compatible phone or case. Confirm the phone remains secure before driving.
Installing the metal plate
- Choose a case: use a clean, firm case with a flat back. Avoid fabric, heavily textured, oily or soft surfaces that cannot retain an adhesive plate reliably.
- Clean the surface: remove dust, oil and moisture and allow the case to dry completely.
- Choose the plate: select the rectangular or round plate according to the phone size, case design and required contact area.
- Position centrally: place the plate near the central mounting area, away from the camera module and buttons.
- Attach carefully: follow the supplied plate instructions and press evenly to establish adhesive contact.
- Allow the adhesive to settle: avoid repeatedly removing or repositioning the plate immediately after attachment.
- Test the hold: connect the phone to the mount and gently check stability while the vehicle is parked.
Check your car’s air vent before ordering
The fixed L-shaped holder is shown installed on a straight horizontal vent blade. Vent designs vary considerably, so inspect the blade direction, spacing, depth and strength before purchase.

Portrait and landscape placement
The phone can be rotated against the flat magnetic surface for portrait or landscape viewing. However, this model does not have an articulated ball joint, extendable arm or independent angle-adjustment mechanism. The final screen angle follows the position of the vehicle’s vent blade.
Wireless charging and MagSafe notice
- This holder does not provide wireless or wired charging.
- The included metal plate can obstruct Qi or MagSafe wireless charging.
- A metal plate placed between the phone and charger may cause charging failure, reduced efficiency or additional heat.
